Wow - didn't realize it has been so long since I posted. We have been learning about our families at preschool.
The children practiced their cutting skills by cutting strips of paper into a bowl. We called it Snip Soup. Then we used the pieces to make a face. Those circles that came home with shapes on them were the faces. Some of them look more like chopped salad. Oh well, at least they got some good cutting and gluing practice. I would encourage you to let your child practice cutting at home. At this age it is easier for them to cut small pieces of paper - we like to use 1" strips of paper or straws. We use the cues: "open, shut, open, shut" and remind them to have thumbs up.
